No. 1 Shippensburg Erases Early Deficit, Rallies To Defeat No. 8 Field Hockey, 3-2

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 14, 2012) – An early lead in the game was not enough for LIU Post as No. 1 Shippensburg University rallied to a 3-2 win over the eighth-ranked Pioneers in a non-conference field hockey game played Friday afternoon on Hickox Field.
Shippensburg remains undefeated at 6-0 while LIU Post falls to 3-1.
Junior forward
Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored the game's first goal in the 23rd minute when she beat out the goalkeeper in a one on one and shot the ball into the left corner from 10 yards out.
The Raiders evened the score with seven seconds to play in the first half when Ari Saytar scored unassisted on a rebound shot. Shippensburg went ahead, 2-1, in the 44th minute when Taylor Bender capitalized on a defensive miscue and shot a goal into an empty net.
LIU Post tied the game up in the 62nd minute when Dragon fired a hard shot into the upper left net on a pass from freshman defender

The Raiders came right back and scored exactly a minute later when Lucinda Kauffman sent a long pass from the right to a waiting Tori Ricker in the 63rd minute.
Shippensburg finished the game outshooting the Pioneers, 18-8, and held a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Ciarra Delost made five saves in net for the Raiders. Sophomore
Becca May (Swedesboro, N.J.) made nine saves in goal for the Pioneers.
LIU Post returns to action on Saturday when the Pioneers host Mansfield University at 12 p.m.
