Football Comes Up Short In Overtime Against Edinboro, 31-24

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 29, 2012) – Edinboro Quarterback Cody Harris completed a 20-yard pass to Marcus Johnson to break a 24-24 tie in overtime and the Fighting Scots kept LIU Post out of the endzone to hang on to win, 31-24, in a non-conference PSAC football clash Saturday afternoon on Hickox Field.
Edinboro improves its overall record to 2-2 while LIU Post slips to 2-2.

Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) pass to
Kamron Palmer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) for 28 yards with 31 seconds on the clock.
With 28 seconds left in regulation in the fourth quarter, the Fighting Scots battled to tie the game. The first play of their drive resulted in a 6-yard sack by
Chris DiIorio (Holtsville, N.Y.) as well as a penalty for intentional grounding against Harris. An incomplete pass to Johnson left Edinboro at 3rd-and-16 from their own 47-yard line. Then, the next play changed the whole game around as Harris launched a pass to a heavily-covered Johnson and despite an attempt by a Pioneer defender to bat the ball away, grabbed and pulled the ball down for a 41-yard completion at the Pioneer 12. On the next play, Harris again found Johnson to complete the touchdown pass and tie the game up with three seconds and send it into overtime.
On the final play of the game, the Pioneers had the ball on the Edinboro 16 on 4th-and-1 and needed to gain one yard for a first down. Junior
Jeff Mack (Bronx, N.Y.) ran with the ball but could not find an opening large enough to rush through and was stopped just before reaching the marker by Devin Ghafoor.
Edinboro led early in the game with 10 points in the first quarter on a 34-yard pass from Harris to Shawn Walker and a 20-yard field goal from Sean Seefeldt.
The Pioneers were able to add a score before the end of the half as Laurino completed a pass to senior
Pat Fitzgerald (Asheville,N.C.) for a 2-yard touchdown with zero time left on the clock following a pass interference call against the Fighting Scots.
In the third quarter, LIU Post took its first lead of the game when Laurino held onto the ball and rushed into the endzone.
Freshman
Tim Sternfeld (Wyckoff, N.J.) added a 20-yard field goal to put the Pioneers up 17-10 with 9:16 to play in the fourth.
Edinboro tied the game at 17-all when Harris ran a 1-yard quarterback sneak with 5:30 on the clock.
Edinboro amassed 458 offensive yards on 79 plays that included 347 passing yards from Harris. Harris completed 26 of 33 pass attempts that resulted in two touchdowns.
LIU Post totaled 401 yards on 85 plays as Laurino completed 21 of 38 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns while also adding 86 rushing yards and a TD.
Kenny Pettis led the game with 14 tackles (7u, 7a) for Edinboro.

Antonio Powell-Fields (Hempstead, N.Y.) led the Pioneers with 12 tackles and a pass break up while freshman
Anthony Turano (Massapequa, N.Y.) made 11 tackles. The Pioneer defense totaled five sacks in the game and were led by junior
Rob Bright (East Meadow, N.Y.), who had a 10-yard sack in the second quarter.
