Men's Soccer Stays Second in Latest NSCAA Top-25 Census
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 1, 2013) - The LIU Post men's soccer team re-claimed its No. 2 ranking in Tuesday's National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II Top-25 Poll.
LIU Post, which are off to an 8-0 start for the third-straight year, beat Philadelphia and NYIT this past week. The Pioneers, behind a five-point effort from junior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), won a decisive 4-1 contest Wednesday against the Rams, before capturing an exciting 3-2 overtime triumph versus the Bears Saturday afternoon.
LIU Post was sandwiched between a pair of undefeated squads in the poll. Simon Fraser (8-0) remained atop the tally, while Rollins (7-0) was third. Drury and Lander moved up three spots apiece to round out the Top-5.
Fellow East Region schools Post and Southern New Hampshire made their Top-25 debuts this week. Post was slotted 15th, while SNHU came in at No. 20.
The Pioneers are back in action Friday (Oct. 4) against East Coast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan in Brookville, N.Y. The opening kick is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
