Women's Soccer Rolls To 6-0 Triumph at STAC

SPARKILL, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2013) - On Saturday, six different players found the back of the net for the LIU Post women's soccer team in a 6-0 blanking of St. Thomas Aquinas at Spartan Field in Sparkill, N.Y. As a result, the Pioneers now boast an overall record of 10-3, and a league mark of 4-2.
Senior forward
Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) was the first player on the green and gold to strike. In the 14th minute, Niciforo headed in a corner kick by junior back
Lauren Bellone (West Islip, N.Y.) to give LIU Post, which owned a 35-4 clip in shots, an early 1-0 edge.
Freshman midfielder
Katie Kingston (Wantagh, N.Y.) would join the scoring column just before the break to double the visitors' advantage at halftime. Off a scramble in front, Kingston punched a shot by STAC sophomore keeper Lauren Morales (Tobyhanna, Pa.) for the goal.
In the latter 45-minute stanza, Vistnes and sophomore midfielder
Hanna Westerling (Alvadalen, Sweden) tallied markers 7:58 apart to make it a 4-0 contest with 19:07 left. The goals were Vistnes's eight, and Westerling's fifth of the season.
Sophomore back
Morgan Miller (West Nyack, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder
Sarah McGarry (Islip, N.Y.) rounded out the twine-tickling efforts for LIU Post.
In net, freshmen
Felicia Orderud (Gothenburg, Sweden) and
Hreffie Agnarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) combined for one save in the clean sheet for the Pioneers. Morales knocked aside a game-best nine shots in nearly 63 minutes of work for the Spartans (0-10, 0-7 ECC).
