Field Hockey Slides to Fourth in NFHCA Top-10 Census

CHANDLER, Ariz. (Oct. 29, 2013) - The LIU Post field hockey team, which rounds out regular-season play this week, slipped one spot to fourth in the latest NFHCA/Penn Monto Division II Top-10 Poll, announced Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers accrued 102 points in the tally, and currently sport a record of 16-0 on the year.

Shippensburg retained its No. 1 ranking for the eighth-consecutive week. The Raiders netted 148 points, and 14 first-place votes. Millersville remained in second with 126 points, and one first-place nod. Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill was third (110 points), while West Chester (93 points) rounded out the Top-5.

Bloomsburg amassed 80 points, and stayed sixth. Merrimack (48 points) and Limestone (31 points) flip-flopped at seventh, and ninth, respectively, with East Stroudsburg (32 points) sandwiched in-between in eighth. Mercyhurst (20 points) made its 2013 debut at 10th to close it out.

LIU Post decisively won a pair of non-conference games last week. The Pioneers, paced by a hat trick from sophomore forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) bested Mercy on Tuesday, 8-0, before a six-point showing from senior forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) on Saturday led the green and gold to a 4-1 edging of Saint Anselm.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and the Pioneers return to action today (Oct. 29), when they square off with American International in a NE-10 tilt at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start.
