BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2013) - On Friday, a 42nd-minute penalty kick by senior back Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway) paced the No. 2 LIU Post men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory versus Roberts Wesleyan in Brookville, N.Y. For Bjoernoe, it is his second deciding goal, via the PK, in as many contests.

Though the Pioneers had only two shots on net in the first 40 minutes of play, Bjoernoe converted on an attempt from the penalty spot to put the hosts in front with 3:57 to go before halftime. The hosts would hold that slight one-goal edge at the break.

During the latter period, LIU Post dominated the course of play, out-shooting the opposition by an overwhelming 19-2 count. It was also awarded with a pair of goals as a result. In the 60th minute, junior back Oscar Kjellstrom (Stenungsund, Sweden) found Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) on a cross into the box. Forgaard subsequently fired a shot into the mesh to double the Pioneers' lead.

Just over four minutes later, Forgaard found himself on the giving end. From the right flank, he fed junior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), who capped off the scoring with his team-leading 11th goal of the year.

For the match, the Pioneers (9-0, 3-0 ECC) owned a commanding 28-7 advantage in shots, and a 17-6 clip in corner kicks. Forgaard led all players with six shots. Austboe added four.

Between the pipes, senior keeper Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) and red-shirt junior netminder Victor Muntean (Westbury, N.Y.) combined for the clean sheet, making one save apiece. Their counterpart, Florian Witte (Dortmund, Germany), tallied six stops for the Redhawks (2-6-1, 1-3 ECC).

Head Coach Andreas Lindberg and his LIU Post squad are back at it Sunday (Oct. 6), when they round out their four-game homestand versus Daemen in Brookville, N.Y. The opening kick is set for 2:30 p.m.
