BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2013) - The LIU Post women's soccer team used a six-goal outburst Friday afternoon to top Roberts Wesleyan, 6-1, in an East Coast Conference tilt at Robert Blitz Field in Brookville, N.Y.

The Pioneers found themselves down 1-0 early, as Ellie Swan (Rochester, N.Y.) found the back of the net in the ninth minute. After that, it was all LIU Post.

Senior forward Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) scored her first of the season at the 16th minute. After a throw in, Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) tapped a one-touch pass to Niciforo, who found the mesh.

In the 32nd minute, it was Vistnes who sent one home to make it 2-1 Pioneers. The tally was her fifth of the year.

Just three minutes later, the Pioneers were awarded a penalty kick, following a Roberts Wesleyan handball in the box. Niciforo stepped up, and buried it passed Redhawks' keeper Marissa Sell (Brockport, N.Y.), which extended the Pioneers' advantage to 3-1 heading into halftime.

The green and gold came out with energy in the second half, and increased their lead just 10 minutes in the latter half. After Niciforo's shot was saved, senior midfielder/forward Jeanine Ambrogi (Greenlawn, N.Y.) was there to clean up the rebound, making it 4-1. The assist gave Niciforo five points on the day.

In the 70th minute, Vistnes netted her second of the game, when she bent one just inside the far post for a 5-1 cushion. The goal, her sixth of the year, gave her five points for the game, tying Niciforo for the team-lead.

Senior Lauren Bischoff (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) capped the scoring for the Pioneers with her first of the season. After Morgan Kitton's (Bellmore, N.Y.) shot was saved, Bischoff was there to put home the rebound.

In goal, sophomore Katelyn Phillips (Littleton, Colo.) made eight saves, while allowing the one goal in 81:41 of action.

The Pioneers outshot the Redhawks, 26-12, in the contest. 17 of them came in the second half.
