Field Hockey Headed to Virginia for NCAA Semifinals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 11, 2013) - On Monday, the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Committee released the 2013 tournament field for the upcoming DII Field Hockey Championship, and LIU Post received the top seed in the North Region. The top seed grants the Pioneers a first-round bye, and a straight shot into the national semifinals.

Also receiving a top seed and a bye was Shippensburg in the South Region.

Stonehill will host Merrimack in the North Region's first-round contest, which will take place on Nov. 16 at noon. In the other opening-round clash, Millersville will be hosting two-time defending champion West Chester, also to be played at noon on Nov. 16.

The Pioneers' semifinal game will be played at 12:30 p.m., while the South Region semifinal tilt will follow at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 22.  The championship final will be held Nov. 24 at 1:15 p.m. Semifinals will be played at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex and National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va., and the national championship contest will be played at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex in Norfolk, Va.

The Pioneers are currently the only remaining unbeaten team in the country with a 20-0 record. They are coming off a 2-1 victory over Stonehill in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

North Region
1. LIU Post (20-0 overall, 20-0 in region)
2. Stonehill (18-3, 18-3)
3. Merrimack (13-5, 13-5)

South Region
1. Shippensburg (18-1 overall, 18-1 region)
2. Millersville (18-2, 18-2)
3. West Chester (14-5, 13-5)
