TOWSON, Md. (Nov. 25, 2013) - On Monday afternoon, LIU Post men's soccer junior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) claimed the prestigious honor of being tabbed as the 2013 CoSIDA/Capital One Division II Men's Soccer Academic All-American of the Year.

The East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Austboe, who owns a 3.94 grade-point average, is the nation's third-leading scorer with 58 points (24 G, 10 A). He ranks third in NCAA Division II as well in points per game, goals, and goals per game. Plus, the Business Management major helped the Pioneers to an 18-1-2 record, a second-straight ECC title, and an NCAA East Region final appearance.

"LIU Post is extremely proud of Eivind in achieving the highest honor a student-athlete can accomplish," said Director of Athletics Bryan Collins (Sayville, N.Y.). "Eivind has featured a tremendous work ethic on the pitch, and in the classroom. He successfully balances the demands of being a student-athlete, and is an inspiration to his fellow athletes."

He later added: "In addition, I would like to congratulate Andreas Lindberg on establishing a culture of hard work and success, both academically and athletically, with our men's soccer program."

Between the pipes, senior goalie Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) earned his second-straight nod to the CoSIDA Academic All-America first-team. Over the course of 21 starts, Jorgensen boasted a mark of 18-1-2 (five shutouts) with a 0.90 goals-against average and an .824 save percentage. He was earlier selected to the All-ECC second-team for his efforts in net.

Fellow senior Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway), a Journalism major with a 3.78 GPA, like Austboe and Jorgensen, nabbed a spot on the first-team. The 2013 ECC Defensive Player of the Year spearheaded a back line that limited the opposition to only one goal per game. He also showed flashes of offense in 2013, posting five goals and nine assists for a 19-point output, which was third-best on the team.

Lastly, senior midfielder Jonathon Watkin (Doncaster, England) was chosen to the Academic All-America third-team. A Physical Education major sporting a 3.79 cumulative grade-point average, Watkin was the Pioneers' fifth-leading point-getter with 16 points (6 G, 4 A). Two of his tallies were game-winners, one of which occurred with 2.8 seconds left in an ECC Championship semifinal victory over Mercy.
