Five Men's Soccer Players Earn NSCAA All-Region Mention

Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway), senior midfielder
Jonathon Watkin (Doncaster, England) and junior forward
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) claimed first-team honors.
Bjoernoe, the 2013 East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, anchored a defensive unit that limited opponents to the third-lowest goals-against average (0.97) in the league. He was also named to the Daktronics All-America, CoSIDA Academic All-America, Daktronics All-Region, and All-ECC first-team for his efforts. In addition, Bjoernoe was no stranger to finding the scoresheet, as he tallied 19 points off five goals and nine assists.
In the midfield, Watkin had six goals, and added four assists, for a 16-point output. An All-ECC first-team and CoSIDA Academic All-America third-team selection, he propelled the Pioneers to the East Coast Conference Championship final by netitng the game-winner with 2.8 seconds left in regulation versus Mercy.
The Daktronics Division II Ron Lenz National Player of the Year, CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, and ECC Offensive Player of the Year, Austboe is third amongst the nation, and tops in the ECC, in each scoring category, sporting a 58-point total (24 G, 10 A). A league-best 10 of those markers proved to be game-winners as well.
Senior forward
Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) got NSCAA All-East Region second-team nods. Turan sported 14 points (3 G, 8 A) on the year, while Forgaard, a Daktronics All-Region first-team, and All-America second-team pick, finished with 16 points (4 G, 8 A).
LIU Post concluded 2013 at 18-2-2 overall, and 8-0-2 versus East Coast Conference rivals. Plus, the Pioneers captured their second-straight ECC crown, and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the third-consecutive season.
