(May 1, 2013) – The Pioneers got on the board first but couldn't keep the Chargers of Dominican College, 7-3, in yesterday's non-conference matchup. The loss dropped the Pioneers to 13-26 on the season. Junior Casey McKay (North Massapequa, N.Y.) led LIU Post, collecting three hits and swiping two bases. Rich Maccarone (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and Angel Pimentel (New York, N.Y.) each added two hits for the Pioneers. Pimentel also stole a base in the top of the sixth. With two on in the first, Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y.) singled through the left side to score Keith Herring (New York, N.Y.) to give the Pioneers a 1-0 advantage. In the third, the Pioneers went up 2-1 when Macarrone singled to right field to score Kevin Chenicek (Levittown, N.Y.). Dominican answered with three in their half of the third to go up 4-2. In the sixth, Maccarone scored on a throwing error when Pimentel stole second base. The Chargers came back with two in the sixth and one in the seventh to make it 7-3.
