Chargers Slide Past Baseball, 6-2

Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 1, 2013)- The LIU Post baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to the University of New Haven by a final score of 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Pioneers fall to 14-27 on the season while New Haven wins its sixth straight and improves to 27-12.
 
The visiting Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and sophomore pitcher Greg Gonzalez (Franklin Square, N.Y.) kept the Chargers scoreless through four, but UNH scored three runs in the fifth for a 3-1 lead.
 
The visitors scored on a Casey McKay (North Massapequa, N.Y.) RBI single in the sixth to make it a one-run game, but New Haven extended its lead with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-2 lead with Joe Romanelli's two-run double striking the big blow.
 
Joe Royer and Connor Moriarty kept LIU Post scoreless the rest of the way to seal the victory for New Haven.
 
The Pioneers close out their season with a four-game series against Bridgeport starting on Friday at 2 p.m. in Connecticut.
