MILLTOWN, N.J. (Oct. 10, 2014) - Red-shirt senior linebacker Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y.) of the LIU Post football team has recently been recognized as a Dream Bowl Player of the Week.

Brunetti's 12-tackle performance, which also included a forced fumble that led to a touchdown in the team's 44-36 victory over Pace last Saturday, was featured in a release from Cutting Edge Sports Management. The red-shirt senior was one of five Division II players and 15 athletes overall to earn the honor.

Brunetti's sterling defensive effort was highlighted by two stellar plays in the second quarter of the Pioneers' win. First, he blocked a punt and returned it to the Pace 14-yard line, setting up an LIU Post touchdown-scoring drive. Then, on the ensuing offensive possession by the Setters, Brunetti stripped Pace running back Valentino Miles of the football on a first-and-10 play. The fumble was scooped up by senior defensive back Roger Hamilton (Bayville, N.Y.) and returned 21 yards for a TD to give the Pioneers a 24-7 lead.

On the season, Brunetti is the team's leader in a number of statistical categories. His 49 tackles are tops on the squad, with seven-and-a-half tackles for loss, as well. In addition, the red-shirt senior has snagged three interceptions and forced two fumbles for the green and gold.
