BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 21, 2014) - Graduate defender Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa) and junior forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) scored two goals apiece Tuesday to propel the LIU Post field hockey team to a 5-3 win against Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference action at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Pioneers (8-2, 4-1 NE-10) took the early 1-0 edge nearly four minutes in. Margiotta knocked in a Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados) cross to put the green and gold in front. Just over a minute later though, Assumption's (7-4, 2-2 NE-10) Andrea Koslowski found the back of the cage off a penalty corner to tie the contest.

Yet, LIU Post answered back with tallies by Crouse and freshman forward Kaycee Zelkovsky (Lambertville, N.J.) at 20:36 and 21:02, respectively, to give the Pioneers a two-goal cushion (3-1).

Then, with six seconds to go in the first half, Crouse put an Abi Sawyer (Wakefield, West Yorkshire) pass behind the Greyhound goalkeeper to give the hosts a comfortable 4-1 lead at the break.

Margiotta would cap off the Pioneer offensive effort after Sawyer found the junior forward in the circle at 44:08.

Overall, the green and gold boasted a 29-9 advantage in shots and an 18-7 clip in penalty corners. Sophomore goalie Meredith Stocklin (Mount Laurel, N.J.) recorded four saves in the game.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad are back in action Sunday (Oct. 26), when they face NE-10 opponent Bentley at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 11 a.m.
