Field Hockey Raises Funds for WFLI
WOODBURY, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2014) - In just under two hours, 10 members of the LIU Post field hockey team raised $2,220 for the Women's Fund of Long Island at the WFLI Breakfast on Thursday.
"This is the second year that we have participated in this event and we look forward to continuing to do so in the future," said Head Coach
Raenee Savin (Nesconset, N.Y.). "It's a good opportunity for our student-athletes to raise funds for organizations that support other young women."
The Women's Fund of Long Island's mission is to ignite networks that transform the lives of women and girls on Long Island through grant making, leadership development, education and philanthropy. The organization is a true community partner and is known as a leading institution on Long Island that has its finger on the pulse of the importance and often unknown issues that impact our region's women and girls.
"The WFLI Breakfast was a great way to help contribute towards a very significant cause," said graduate defender
Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa). "Being a woman and helping raise funds for other women makes it more personal, and it's great to know that we are helping our immediate community. It was wonderful to see how generous people can be and the breakfast was a super experience overall...I was glad to share it with my field hockey family."
