BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 20, 2014) - In its first dual since being disbanded in 1988, the LIU Post wrestling team toppled Stony Brook, 47-3, at the Pratt Recreation Center.

The Pioneers (1-0) collected four wins in the match via forfeit, three by major decision, one by technical fall, and one by pinfall.

In the 125-lb. weight class, sophomore Tyler Walsh (West Islip, N.Y.) got a takedown and five near fall points in the first period on the Seawolves' Eric Overton, en route to a 12-3 victory. Then, at 133, senior Francisco Viera-Pereira (Huntington Station, N.Y.) took little time to defeat his opponent, pinning Jon Crespo in 57 seconds.

Freshman Matt Langan (Wantagh, N.Y.) and red-shirt freshman Jackson Mordente (Farmingville, N.Y.) majored their opposition at 149 and 157, respectively. Langan bested Joe Nikolic, 10-1, while Mordente defeated Darren Sarigenise, 13-1.

Lastly, at the 197-lb. weight class, senior Chris DiIorio (Holtsville, N.Y.) collected four takedowns and four near fall points in just the first period, as he won via technical fall against Connor Watson, 25-9.

Head Coach Joe Patrovich and his LIU Post squad return to the mat Sunday (Nov. 22), when they wrestle at the New York State Championships, hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
