BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 24, 2014) - For the second year in a row, Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) of the LIU Post men's soccer team has been selected as the Daktronics Division II East Region Player of the Year, it was announced Monday.

The senior led the Pioneers to their first-ever NCAA Division II East Region Championship, defeating Merrimack, 2-0, before falling to No. 1 Charleston, 1-0, in the national quarterfinals on Saturday (Nov. 22).

Austboe was recently named the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Capital One Academic All-American of the Year for the second time in as many seasons. In his senior campaign, he collected the ninth-most goals (17) in Division II, along with the 11th-most points (38).
 
The LIU Post standout enjoyed a storied career. A year ago, he was named a first team NSCAA All-American, the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, and was the Daktronics Ron Lenz National Player of the Year.  He ranked third in the nation in goals, goals per game and points per game, and was fourth in total points, while finishing with 24 goals and 10 assists for 58 points. The Pioneers finished with an 18-2-2 record, losing in the third round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
 
In 2012, Austboe played in just seven contests before suffering a season-ending injury. He was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2011 after leading the East Coast Conference in goals (16) and points (34).

Joining Austboe on the All-East Region First Team was junior midfielder Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway). Fogaard was second on the team in scoring, putting away eight goals and dishing out nine assists for a total of 25 points.

Freshman forward Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.) was honored as an All-East Region Second Team selection after being named the ECC Rookie of the Year. The freshman posted six goals and five assists for a total of 17 points in his rookie campaign.
