BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2014) - Powered by a pair of two-goal performances from Kaycee Zelkovsky (Lambertville, N.J.) and Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.), the No. 5 LIU Post field hockey team defeated non-conference foe Bellarmine, 5-0, on Friday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Just four minutes into the first half, Margiotta ripped a penalty stroke into the left side of the cage to give the Pioneers (13-2) a one-goal advantage over the visiting Knights (9-8). Soon after, the Sewell native notched her second tally of the game, finding the back of the cage off a Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados) rebound. Zelkovsky capped off LIU Post's first period offensive effort by tapping a Margiotta assist past Bellarmine senior goalie Lara Williams (Louisville, Ky.).

At 54:23, Zelkovsky converted a Melissa Quintanilla (Rome, N.Y.) pass from outside the arc to secure another Pioneer goal, widening the green and gold's lead to four (4-0). More than five minutes later, senior forward Stephanie Ruhle (Wanaque, N.J.) scored LIU Post's fifth and final tally of the contest, with assists credited to Zelkovsky and Abi Sawyer (Wakefield, West Yorkshire)

Through 70 minutes, the Pioneer offense attempted 28 total shots, while a steady back line allowed the Knights only three. Sophomore goalkeeper Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) collected one save in her 11th win of the 2014 campaign.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad are back in action Sunday (Nov. 9), when they face Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Anselm at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at noon.
