BALTIMORE, Md. (Dec. 11, 2014) - Following an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship last season, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team was ranked second in Thursday's Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Division II Preseason Top-15 Poll.

The Pioneers return a high-octane offense in 2015, as they welcome back five of their six leading scorers from a year ago. Junior attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.), a USILA All-America Honorable Mention choice in 2014, paced the LIU Post offense with 55 points. He tallied 33 goals (seven man-up; three game-winners) and 22 assists.

Senior attackman Chris Caiazza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and junior attackman Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) are coming off 42-point campaigns. Senior midfielder Connor Drost (Wading River, N.Y.), led by an 11-point showing in the postseason, finished with 36 points (17 G, 19 A). Lastly, junior midfielder Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.), a reigning USILA All-America second-team selection, posted a 28-point output (21 G, 7 A).

Defending national champion Limestone topped the rankings. Le Moyne, whom the Pioneers defeated 9-3 in a national quarterfinal last season, placed third, while Tampa and NYIT rounded out the Top-5.

Head Coach John Jez and his LIU Post squad boasted an 11-6 record in 2014, including a 6-2 mark in East Coast Conference play. They also captured the ECC title, on the heels of a 10-9 win over Dowling.
