DANBURY, Conn. (Dec. 19, 2014) - On Thursday, four members of the LIU Post men's soccer team made the cut as 2014 ECAC Division II All-Stars.
Senior forward
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), junior midfielder
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway), and freshman back
David Arvidsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) were named to the first-team, while freshman foward
Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.) earned second-team honors.
Earlier this month, the duo of Austboe and Forgaard were individually lauded as Daktronics Division II All-America second- and third-team honorees, as well.
Last month, Austboe was dubbed the Daktronics Division II East Region Player of the Year. A 2013 Daktronics and NSCAA All-America first-team selection, he was also recognized as the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Capital One Academic All-American of the Year for the second time in as many seasons. In his senior campaign, Austboe collected the ninth-most goals (17) in Division II, along with the 11th-most points (38).
The LIU Post standout enjoyed a storied career. A year ago, Austboe was tabbed as an NSCAA All-America first-team choice, the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year and the Daktronics Ron Lenz National Player of the Year. He ranked third in the nation in goals, goals per game and points per game, and fourth in total points, finishing with 24 goals and 10 assists (58 points). The Pioneers rounded out the 2013 season at 18-2-2 overall, losing in the third round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Forgaard, a Daktronics and NSCAA All-American, was second on the team in scoring in 2014, putting away eight goals and dishing out nine assists for a 25-point output. The junior was selected to the Daktronics All-East Region first-team, in addition to the All-ECC first-team for his efforts.
Arvidsson helped lead an LIU Post defense that allowed 1.00 goals against this season, which was second-lowest in the conference. The freshman was also named to the All-ECC second-team.
Lampkin, who took home the ECC Rookie of the Year honor this season, found the back of the net six times and dished off five assists to compile 17 points in his freshman campaign.
