SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (Dec. 8, 2014) - The LIU Post men's and women's indoor track and field teams made its return to varsity competition on Monday at the Bill Ward Invitational, hosted by St. John's University at Saint Anthony's High School.
Freshman
Bjorn Bjornsson (Levittown, N.Y.) highlighted the men's effort with a seventh-place showing (6.11 meters) in the long jump. He also clocked a 14th-place time of 54.71 in the 400-meter run.
Fellow freshman
Toby Ilomuanya (South Orange, N.J.) added an 11th-place run of 1:15.25 in the 500-meter event.
For the women, freshman
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) had the Pioneers' best overall finish of the day. She recorded a 2:20.83 in the 800-meter run, which was good for second place.
In her first collegiate meet, freshman
Nicolette DeSouza (Stroudsburg, Pa.) clocked sprints of 8.68 and 20.11 in the 60- and 200-meter dash, respectively.
Head Coach Rob Morris and his LIU Post squads are back in action Saturday (Jan. 10), when they travel up to New Haven, Conn. for the Yale Invitational.
