LANTANA, Fla. (Mar. 10, 2014) - The LIU Post baseball team wrapped up its annual Spring Training trip with a 10-0 win over Bloomfield Tuesday at the Santaluces Sports Complex in Lantana, Fla.
The Pioneers (3-2) busted out for 11 hits, while freshman starter
Jake DeCarli (Higganum, Conn.) went seven scoreless innings to earn his first collegiate win. The righty allowed five hits, walked two and struck out seven in his first career start. Fellow freshmen
Dan Jagiello (West Islip, N.Y.) and
Mike Castagnaro (Farmingdale, N.Y) each tossed a scoreless frame of relief.
On the offensive side, junior shortstop
Angel Vidal (Sheepshead Bay, N.Y.), freshman catcher
Thomas Asbaty (Randolph, N.J.), freshman outfielder
Kyle Fagan (Wantagh, N.Y.) and freshman third basemen
Brian Tinney (Farmingdale, N.Y.) all posted two-hit games, while Fagan and freshman
Joe Riley (Massapequa, N.Y.) both knocked in two runs.
The Pioneers return to action next Tuesday (Mar. 18), when they take on Long Island rival Adelphi in Garden City, N.Y. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
