No. 3 Men's Lacrosse Bounces Back With 15-2 Win at Roberts

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Mar. 15, 2014) - Looking to rebound from a tough loss to Adelphi four days earlier, the No. 3 LIU Post men's lacrosse team routed East Coast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan, 15-2, on Saturday in Rochester, N.Y.
Sophomore attackman
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) totaled a career-high 10 points, and picked up six ground balls. Junior attackman
Chris Caiazza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and sophomore attackman
Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) added four points apiece. On defense, senior
T.J. McAndrew (Randolph, N.J.) had five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
It was the Slane show in the opening 30 minutes of play, as he tallied five goals, the first three of which were unassisted, en route to the Pioneers (4-1, 3-0 ECC) carrying a 9-0 lead into the break. He also dished out two helpers over the first two quarters. Caiazza added two markers, while Beccaris chipped in a goal and an assist.
The latter portion of the contest was a showcase of extra-up opportunities. The Redhawks (4-1, 1-1 ECC) opened the scoring in the half with a man-up tally by Dom Cianfarano (Oswego, N.Y.), Yet, LIU Post, which sported a 50.0 percent (5-of-10) EMO conversion rate in the game, got man-up goals from Caiazza, Slane, Beccaris and sophomore attackman
Anthony DeLuca (West Islip, N.Y.).
Overall, the Pioneers owned a 50-15 advantage in shots, and a 28-23 edge in ground balls. They were a perfect 17-of-17 on clears as well.
