BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 19, 2014) - The top-ranked LIU Post women's lacrosse team dominated from start to finish Wednesday in a 23-1 blowout of East Coast Conference opponent Mercy at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y.

Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) finished with a game-high 10 points (5 G, 5 A) in the win. Fellow senior attacker
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) posted an eight-point (3 G, 5 A) day. Freshman attacker
Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) amassed five points (3 G, 2 A).

Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) won six draw controls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Sileo had the Pioneers (7-0, 1-0 ECC) rolling out of the gate, as she netted two goals and dished out three assists over the first 8:50 to stake her squad to a quick 7-0 lead. LIU Post would widen its advantage to double digits at the halfway mark of the opening session, via two Losco goals and a Douglas tally.
The Mavericks (2-5, 0-2 ECC) got their lone goal of the game at the 12:13 mark, off an unassisted effort by Nicole Augustine (KIngston, N.Y.). However, the hosts recorded the final three markers of the half to head into the break up 13-1.
In the latter stanza, the green and gold kept up the intensity, outscoring the opposition 10-0. Eight different players for LIU Post found the back of the cage in the 30-minute period. Douglas and red-shirt sophomore attacker
Alexis Newman (Medford Lakes, N.J.) accounted for two goals apiece.

Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) made four saves, three of which occurred in the second half. Freshmen cageminders Shianne Judson (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Jillian Rocco (Dix Hills, N.Y.) combined for nine stops for Mercy.
Overall, the Pioneers more than doubled up the Mavericks in shots (37-9) and ground balls (25-9), while holding a 16-10 edge in draws. They also converted on 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) clears.
In the last two contests, LIU Post has put up an impressive 45 goals to the opponents' two.

Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Mar. 22), when they begin a four-game road trip in Flushing, N.Y. at Queens. The opening draw is slated for noon.
