Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Eighth, Ninth in Top-15 National Ballots
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 24, 2014) - On Monday, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team slid from fifth to eighth in the Lacrosse Magazine Division II Poll and fell four slots to No. 9 in the USILA Poll. The Pioneers currently sport a 4-2 overall record.
LIU Post dropped an 8-7 heartbreaker in Rockville Centre, N.Y. to No. 10/12 Molloy on Saturday. The green and gold fought back from an 8-5 second-half deficit to cut the lead to one but couldn't find the equalizer. Graduate attackman
Joe Costello (Minneapolis, Minn.) netted a hat trick and added one helper in the effort.
For the second-straight week, the Top-3 spots in both ledgers remained unchanged with the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 rankings belonging to Le Moyne, Adelphi, and Limestone, respectively.
In the Lacrosse Magazine tally, Merrimack, Pfeiffer and Molloy all jumped up four spots while NYIT dropped four notches to 12th. The No. 4 Dowling Golden Lions topped the now No. 12 Bears 10-7 this past weekend.
Up next for head coach
John Jez and the Pioneers is a trip to Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday (Mar. 29) to take on No. 13/15 Chestnut Hill. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
