No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 18-4 Rout of SNHU

Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) amassed a game- and career-high eight points Saturday to power the No. 1 LIU Post women's lacrosse team past Southern New Hampshire, 18-4, at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y.

Stefani Vagelatos (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) had three goals and two assists for a five-point day. Senior midfielder
Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) added a hat trick. Junior midfielder
Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) collected three points (2 G, 1 A), alongside four caused turnovers. Freshman midfielder
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) won four draws.
In the opening stanza, a five-goal performance by Losco, and a three-goal showing from Rotan helped the Pioneers (3-0) to an 11-1 halftime lead. Sileo chipped in a goal to open the scoring, and followed with four assists.
During the second half, Losco got her sixth goal of the season just 2:11 in to extend LIU Post's cushion to an 11-goal margin (12-1). Sileo credited another goal and assist to her name in the session. Vagelatos recorded two more tallies to complete her hat trick for the afternoon.
Overall, LIU Post more than doubled up SNHU (0-3) in shots (35-15), owned a 26-14 advantage in ground balls, and held a 13-11 edge in draws. The Pioneers also cleared the ball successfully on 16-of-18 (88.8 percent) attempts.

Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers are back at it Wednesday (Mar. 12), when they face Bentley in a non-conference tilt in Orlando, Fla. The opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m.
