NEW YORK, N.Y. (Apr. 16, 2014) - After leading the LIU Post women's basketball team to a program-setting season in 2013-14, Head Coach Deirdre Moore, junior guard Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) and senior guard Alexis Peters (Dorchester, Mass.) were recognized by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association on Wednesday.

Moore was tabbed as the 2013-14 All-Met Division II Women's Coach of the Year. She mentored the Pioneers to a 24-7 record, a first-ever East Coast Conference regular-season crown, the team's first NCAA Tournament win since 1983, and the program's first berth in the NCAA East Regional Championship game. In addition, Moore earned her 100th career victory with the green and gold in an 85-73 win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Jan. 18.

Following one of the best single-season performances in Pioneer history, Williams garnered All-Met first-team accolades. The junior racked up 610 points over 31 games, good enough for a 19.7 scoring average. She shot 40.1 percent from the floor and 35.9 percent from distance, while grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game. In addition to being named a Women's Division II Bulletin Honorable Mention, the Copiague, N.Y. native received ECC Player of the Year and Daktronics All-East Region first-team recognition. She also landed on the All-ECC first-team, ECC All-Tournament Team and the NCAA Division II East Region All-Tournament squad.

Peters averaged 13.8 points per game in her senior campaign. The Dorchester, Mass. product began her career as a walk-on for the 2010-11 squad and was a part of four straight NCAA Tournament-bound teams. This past year, Peters was selected to the All-ECC second-team as well as the All-Tournament Team for her play in the NCAA Championship.

Williams and Peters both scored their 1,000th career point in the green and gold's win over Assumption in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II East Regional on Mar. 14.
