No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Breezes to 18-4 Win Versus Molloy
Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 5, 2014) - The top-ranked LIU Post women's lacrosse team outscored Molloy 12-0 in the first half, en route to an 18-4 victory on Saturday afternoon at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y.
During the offensive onslaught that was the first 30 minutes of play, senior attacker
Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) amassed eight of her game-best nine points (2 G, 7 A). Fellow senior attacker
Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) had three goals and an assist. Freshman attacker
Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) chipped in a marker and two helpers.
The Pioneers (12-0, 5-0 ECC), in addition to holding a comfortable 12-0 halftime cushion, limited the Lions (6-5, 2-2 ECC) to just four shots. The green and gold outshot their opposition by a 33-13 count in the game.
In the latter stanza, LIU Post opened things up on a 6-1 run to extend its lead to a commanding 17-1, and sealed Molloy's fate. Four of those markers came over a seven-minute span, the last of which was by Losco at the 12:25 mark.
Losco closed things out with a five-point effort (4 G, 1 A). Vagelatos and senior attacker
Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.) totaled four points apiece. Senior midfielder
Katie Rotan (West Islip, N.Y.) registered a three-point showing (2 G, 1 A). She collected six ground balls as well. Junior midfielder
Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) and freshman defender/midfielder
Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.) both netted a pair of goals.

Kali Maxwell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) won six draw controls and caused one turnover. Freshman midfielder
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) scooped up five draw controls.
Between the pipes, senior goalies
Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) and
Renee Schwartz (Lockport, N.Y.) combined to make seven saves for the Pioneers. Their counterparts, Caroline Winters (Balldwin, N.Y.) and Laura Vetter (Great River, N.Y.), recorded 12 total stops for the Lions.
