BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 9, 2014) - The top-ranked LIU Post women's lacrosse team used a 5-0 run in the first eight minutes of the game to kickstart an 18-3 victory over Bridgeport on Wednesday at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y.

The win gives the Pioneers a program-best 36-game winning streak dating back to the start of the 2012 NCAA Division II Championship.

LIU Post (13-0, 6-0 ECC) controlled the tempo of the contest from the opening draw control, peppering the defense of the Purple Knights (1-11, 0-6 ECC) with 27 shots through the first 30 minutes of play, en route to a 13-1 halftime lead over its opponents. Leading the charge for the green and gold was senior attacker Jackie Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y.) with 11 points, including a season-high eight assists. Sileo added three goals to her account, while senior attacker Morgan Chiarenza (Nesconset, N.Y.) had a four-point outing of her own (3 G, 1 A). Fourth-year attacking midfielder Samantha Losco (Smithtown, N.Y.) continued her stellar season by adding two goals and three assists to give her a career-high 56 points for the 2014 campaign. All in all, the Pioneers' balanced attack continued its dominance, as 10 players contributed at least one point in the victory.

The green and gold controlled the game on both sides of the ball and were just as relentless on defense as they were in the attacking zone. The Pioneers forced Bridgeport to commit 20 team turnovers, and won the ground ball battle by a 24-11 margin. LIU Post also dominated on draw controls (15-8), thanks to a career-best seven victories on restarts from freshman midfielder Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) and the final numbers for total shots saw a 39-9 marker in favor of the Pioneers.

Senior goalie Katie Hannan (Gansevoort, N.Y.) made just one save in net, but picked up her 13th victory on the season. The Pioneers saw excellent time in the cage from senior Renee Schwartz (Lockport, N.Y.) and sophomore Kasey Kephart (Nesconset, N.Y.) as well. Bridgeport netminder Megan Carney countered with 14 saves against LIU Post in her sixty minutes of work between the pipes.

Head coach Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers continue their four-game homestand on Saturday (Apr. 12), as they welcome Stonehill to Hickox Field. The opening draw is set for noon.
