Baseball Falls to Queens, 6-4, in Season Finale
Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 4, 2014) - The LIU Post baseball team saw a ninth-inning rally fall just short in a 6-4 loss to Queens in Flushing, N.Y. on the final day of the regular season.
The Pioneers (18-19, 11-13 ECC) jumped out on top with a run in the first. Junior
Angel Vidal (Sheepshead Bay, N.Y.) delivered a sacrifice fly that scored senior
Tom Tolan (Malverne, N.Y.).
The Knights responded with four runs in the second, one in the third and added another in the seventh.
Trailing 6-1 in the eighth, the Pioneers began to fight back. With the bases loaded and two out, freshman
Thomas Asbaty (Randolph, N.J.) singled through the ride side of the infield, plating senior
Vinny Iacono (Nesconset, N.Y.).
In the ninth, pinch hitter
Joey Arena (Yorktown, N.Y.) singled up the middle and would advance to second on a wild pitch. With one out, freshman
Kyle Fagan (Wantagh, N.Y.) produced a run with an RBI groundout. Iacono then followed with his second-career homer. But, that would be all the Pioneers would get.
The green and gold conclude the 2014 campaign with an 18-19 overall record, including an 11-13 clip in ECC play. For more information about the LIU Post baseball team, please continue to visit
