Men's Soccer Repeats as ECC Academic Team of Excellence
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Jul. 18, 2014) - On Thursday, the East Coast Conference recognized the LIU Post men's soccer program as an Academic Team of Excellence in 2013-14. It is the second time in as many years that Head Coach
Andreas Lindberg's (East Quogue, N.Y.) squad has received the honor.
The ECC Academic Teams of Excellence Award is presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade-point average in their respective sport. The 17 teams praised for their excellence in the classroom combined to post a 3.37 GPA.
"Congratulations on another outstanding job by all of the student-athletes on the 17 men's and women's squads that were honored as ECC Academic Teams of Excellence, an award we are very proud of," said ECC Commissioner,
Dr. Robert Dranoff. "While we always want our team members to rise to the challenge athletically, we are all committed to the importance of achievement in the classroom and in the community."
The Pioneers, who boasted a 3.5 GPA as a team in the past academic year, captured their second-straight East Coast Conference Championship and made their third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. However, the green and gold's magical run came to an end in the East Region final against eventual national champion Southern New Hampshire.
