Vistnes Repeats as ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Aug. 27, 2014) - On Wednesday, the East Coast Conference announced its 2014 Preseason Women's Soccer Poll. The Pioneers landed second on the ledger, while junior forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) was named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
The green and gold received 79 points (one first-place vote) to edge Mercy (78 points) for the No. 2 slot in the tally. LIU Post made its seventh-straight appearance in the ECC Championship last season and finished with a mark of 13-5.
Vistnes earned ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season. In 2013, Vistnes led the Pioneers and the ECC with 14 goals and 34 points. She also finished tied for fifth in the conference with six assists. Her outstanding season led to her repeat selections as the ECC Offensive Player of the Year and an NSCAA Third-Team All-American.
The Pioneers open the campaign next Friday, Sept. 5, when they host Southern Connecticut State in the second game of the 2014 LIU Post Women's Soccer Classic. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
