Men's Soccer Picked to "3-Peat" in 2014 ECC Coaches' Poll

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Aug. 28, 2014) - The LIU Post men's soccer team was selected Thursday as the favorite to win a third-straight East Coast Conference crown in 2014. In addition, senior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) earned ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year accolades.
 
LIU Post, which claimed its second-straight ECC Championship and third title in the past five years last season, was nearly a unanimous choice for the top spot with 10 out of 11 first-place votes and 119 points overall. In 2013, the Pioneers tied a program record with 18 victories and spent four weeks as the No. 1 team in the country. The green and gold begin the 2014 campaign ranked at No. 8 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Preseason Top-25 Poll.
 
Austboe had one of the best seasons in ECC history a year ago, en route to capturing the league's Offensive Player of the Year honor. He scored 24 goals and dished off 10 assists for a 58-point output. The Stavanger, Norway product's goal and point totals were more than twice the total of the runner-ups on the ECC leaderboard, and ranked second in all of Division II. For his efforts, Austboe was named the Daktronics Division II National Player of the Year, as well as being recognized as a First-Team All-American by both Daktronics and the NSCAA.
