KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Jan. 22, 2015) - After guiding the LIU Post men's soccer team to its finest season in program history, Head Coach
Andreas Lindberg has been named the 2014 NSCAA Senior College Men's Division II East Region Coach of the Year, it was announced Thursday.
Lindberg led the green and gold to their first-ever NCAA Division II East Region Championship, following a 2-0 win at Merrimack. The Pioneers, however, subsequently fell to Charleston (W. Va.), 1-0, in the national quarterfinals.
LIU Post finished the season ranked No. 11 and was showered with numerous posteason awards. Senior forward
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) and junior midfielder
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) were both honored as All-Americans by the NSCAA and Daktronics. Austboe also earned his second-straight Capital One Academic All-American of the Year honor, as well as a second-straight East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year accolade.
WIth the team's 16 wins this season, Lindberg is now tied with former head coach Paul Riley (1990-97) for the most wins in program history with 88.
