Women's Basketball Loses at Roberts Wesleyan, 79-67
Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Jan. 24, 2015) - The LIU Post women's basketball team saw its brief two-game winning streak come to an end Saturday, as the Pioneers fell to Roberts Weslayan, 79-67, at the Voller Athletic Center in Rochester.
The Pioneers (11-7, 7-3) were led by the duo of senior guard
Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) and junior center
Nyasia Davis (Rahway, N.J.). Williams led all scorers with 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting, while Davis added 18 points and shot at a 50 percent clip (7-for-14).
Williams scored 19 of her 31 points in the first half. The senior did all she could to keep the Pioneers close, but Roberts Wesleyan (12-4, 7-3 ECC) got eight points from the trio of Marissa Sell, Brooke Fields and Samantha Courtney. The Redhawks held a 38-30 lead at the break thanks to an 11-2 edge in bench points and a 7-0 advantage in points off turnovers. Roberts Wesleyan shot 46.7 percent from the floor in the opening stanza, while LIU Post shot just 35.7 percent.
In the second half, the Redhawks kept up the pressure and led by double digits throughout most of the final 20 minutes. Davis paced the LIU Post offense with 14 second-half points. Williams added 12 and red-shirt senior forward
Jessica Little (Wyandanch, N.Y.) added seven points off the bench. The Redhawks used solid perimiter shooting to keep the Pioneers at bay, shooting 66.7 percent from deep (4-for-6). The green and gold struggledd from distance, going just 1-for-7.

Deirdre Moore and the Pioneers are back in action on Thursday (Jan. 29) when they take on the University of the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference battle. The opening tip is slated for 5 p.m. from Brookville.
