NEW YORK, N.Y. (Jan. 24, 2015) - On Friday, the LIU Post men's and women's indoor track and field teams had a handful of runners compete at the Metro Team Challenge, hosted by NYU at the New Balance Track and Field Center.
Three different runners on the women's side placed in the Top-15 in their individual events. Junior
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the way, clocking a ninth-place time of 10:32.69 in the 3,000-meter run. That mark also broke a 10-year old school record (10:38.7), set by Trisha Stavinoha in 2005.
Freshman
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) came in 10th in the mile, crossing at 5:11.84, while graduate
Robin Lynn (Glen Gardner, N.J.) added a 13th-place showing (3:04.75) in the 1,000-meter run.
Red-shirt sophomore
Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) headlined the men's efforts. He clocked a 4:23.80 in the mile, which was good for 15th place. Red-shirt junior
Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) added a time of 4:40.11 in the same event.
The Pioneers are back in action next Friday (Jan. 30), when they take part in the two-day Armory Track Invitational at the New Balance Track and Field Center.
