Complete Release

BALTIMORE, Md. (Dec. 6, 2015)
- On Monday, Inside Lacrosse released a list of 37 Division II Preseason All-Americans for 2015, and the LIU Post men's lacrosse team had four players recognized.

Junior midfielder Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the way with a Preseason All-America first-team selection. In 17 games last year, he notched 21 goals and seven assists for a 28-point output. Seven of those tallies came with the man-up, tying Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Joe Costello (Minneapolis, Minn.) for the team-lead. Berardis was named to the All-East Coast Conference first-team and USILA All-America second-team in 2014 for his efforts.

Meanwhile, Beccaris, along with senior defensemen Justin Woodley (Bloomington, Minn.) and Robbie Chiocco (Massapequa, N.Y.), earned nods to the Preseason All-America second-team.

For the second time in as many seasons, Beccaris, a two-time Inside Lacrosse Preseason Second-Team All-American, paced the Pioneers' attacking unit, accumulating 55 points (33 G, 22 A). His goal and point totals ranked in the Top-10 amongst the ECC. Additionally, Beccaris, who was tabbed as a USILA All-America Honorable Mention choice last season, scored two shorthanded goals, which was tops in the league.

Woodley and Chiocco were part of an LIU Post defense in 2014 that limited the opposition to the fifth-best goals-against average (7.24) in Division II. Woodley, an All-ECC second-team choice a year ago, compiled 15 caused turnovers and eight ground balls, while Chiocco, an All-ECC first-team and USILA All-America third-team honoree, scooped up 35 ground balls and forced 16 caused turnovers.

Head Coach John Jez and the Pioneers will start eyeing their return to the NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday, Feb. 14, when they kick off the 2015 campaign in Severna Park, Md. against Queens (N.C.). The opening faceoff is scheduled for noon.
