BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2015) - On Sunday, the LIU Post women's soccer team defeated East Coast Conference foe Daemen College, 3-0, at Pioneer Soccer Park.
The Pioneers (12-2-2, 4-1-2 ECC) were in control early, as senior forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) got the green and gold on the board in the 26th minute.
That would be all the scoring in the first half. Daemen (6-9-1, 3-4 ECC) outshot the Pioneers, 7-4, in the opening 45 minutes.
In the second half, LIU Post turned up the offense.
Just over three minutes into the half, the Pioneers were awarded a corner kick. Vistnes sent a quick pass to senior back
Katie LaManna (Smithtown, N.Y.), who passed back to Vistnes. Vistnes then sent a cross into the box, where junior midfielder
Katie Kingston (Wantagh, N.Y.) connected with a header to make it 2-0.
Then, in the 59th minute, freshman forward
Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden) capped the scoring with her fifth goal of the season.
In net, junior keeper
Felicia Orderud (Gothenburg, Sweden) made four saves to earn the win.
Head Coach
Mark Dawson and the Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 28), when they host Molloy College in an ECC showdown in Brookville. The opening kick is slated for 3 p.m.
