Kidd-Hubbard Connection Leads Football By Bentley, 34-20

WALTHAM, Mass. (Nov. 14, 2015) - Tied 20-20 in the third quarter, the LIU Post football team scored 14 unanswered points, en route to a 34-20 win over Bentley University in the Pioneers' 2015 season finale Saturday at Bentley Field.

Late in the opening quarter, the Pioneers (7-4) took a 14-7 lead on a 14-yard touchdown run by junior tailback David White (Bronx, N.Y.). The green and gold surged into the red zone with back-to-back 20-plus yard passes from junior quarterback Jeff Kidd (Salem, Ore.) to red-shirt junior wideout Shane Hubbard (St. Albans, N.Y.) and senior h-back Sean Binckes (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Bentley (5-6) then sliced the deficit to 14-10, before LIU Post widened its advantage to two possessions prior to halftime. After the Falcons failed to convert a fourth down from its own 22-yard line, the Pioneers reached the end zone two plays later on a three-yard plunge by red-shirt freshman running back Malik Pierre (Holbrook, N.Y.).

In the second half, Bentley scored on its first two drives of the second half to even the score at 20-all. A 20-yard field goal by Michael Baron (Medfield, Mass.) tied the game with 8:19 left in the third quarter.

Following the Baron field goal, Kidd orchestrated a 12-play, 80-yard series that resulted in a Hubbard eight-yard touchdown reception. Kidd completed 6-of-8 passes in the drive for 58 yards, and dialed his own number for an 18-yard keeper.

For the remainder of the contest, the LIU Post defense stood tall, as it only allowed Bentley into plus-territory in one of its final five possessions.

Two snaps into the Pioneers' first drive of the fourth quarter, Kidd threw a 92-yard pass to Hubbard, extending the green and gold's advantage to 34-20.

Kidd finished the game 20-of-35 passing for 284 yards and two touchdowns. White rushed 20 times for a game-high 124 yards and two TD's. Hubbard made five catches for a game- and season-high 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Defensively, junior linebacker Nate Feliz (Bronx, N.Y.) led all players with 16 tackles (six solo, 10 assist). Red-shirt junior defensive back Kareem Folkes (Brooklyn, N.Y.) collected 12 solo tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass break-up. Junior defensive back Ryan Renfroe (Oakdale, N.Y.) recorded 10 tackles (four solo, six assist).

Head Coach Bryan Collins and his LIU Post squad wrapped up the 2015 season at 7-4 overall and 5-4 in NE-10 play. For more information on the Pioneers' football program, please continue to visit LIUPostPioneers.com.
