BRONX, N.Y. (Dec. 4, 2015) - On Friday, the Pioneer sprinters took center stage, as the LIU Post men's and women's indoor track and field teams kicked off 2015-16 at the Fordham University Season Opener at the Vince Lombardi Center.
Sophomore
Nicolette DeSouza (Stroudsburg, Pa.) ran a fifth-place time of 8.44 in the 60-meter dash. She also clocked a 29.31 in the 200-dash.
Junior
Chloe Margulis (Port Washington, N.Y.) crossed at 1:09.59 in the 400-meter dash, which was good for a 16th-place finish.
Meanwhile, for the men's side, red-shirt freshman
Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) and red-shirt sophomores
Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) and
Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) were separated by .09 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
Thomas placed sixth to lead the pack, running a 7.33. Joseph (7.35) and Ward (7.42) individually followed in seventh and eighth.
Freshmen
Andrew Servedio (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and
Kenny Maxwell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added respective times of 7.90 and 8.37 in the 60-dash.
Thomas paced the Pioneers in the 200-meter dash, as well. He posted a fourth-place time of 23.79, narrowly edging Joseph (23.85) by .06 seconds. Junior
Stefan Adams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was a close sixth at 24.05.
Ward ran eighth in the 200-dash, clocking a 24.19. Junior
Devin Pettaway (Amityville, N.Y.) added a 16th-place finish (25.42) in his first race in an LIU Post uniform.

Pat Slevin and the Pioneers are back in action on Tuesday (Dec. 8), when they compete at the Bill Ward Invitational, hosted by St. John's University at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington.
