Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team

PITTSBURG, Kan. (Feb. 11, 2015)
- Two members of the LIU Post football team have been tabbed as honorable mentions to the 2014 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team. Red-shirt senior quarterback Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) and junior tight end Sean Binckes (Brooklyn, N.Y.) are the Pioneers to receive these honors after an incredible season, which culminated in a Northeast-10 Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Laurino continues to add accolades to his ever-expanding trophy case, following a brilliant final campaign in Brookville. He was previously named a member of the All-Super Region One Second-Team Offense by the Don Hansen Football Gazette.

Laurino was a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist, the 2014 Northeast-10 Most Valuable Player and an ECAC All-Star selection. The quarterback totaled 48 touchdowns and over 4,100 yards of total offense in his final season. Laurino was also a record-setter this past year, setting new standards in career passing yards (9,673), touchdown passes (86) and total offense (11,191). In fact, he is the only player in LIU Post football history to amass over 10,000 yards of total offense in a career.

Binckes claims another honor to pair with his All-NE-10 first-team selection earlier this season. The junior tight end snagged 59 passes for 714 yards and five touchdowns in 2014. Binckes was one of Laurino's favorite targets over the course of the year, and it showed in an 11-103-1 performance on Oct. 11, as the Pioneers knocked off Stonehill by a final score of 28-25. Binckes caught eight passes for 89 yards in an NCAA Tournament contest against Virginia State on Nov. 22.
