BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 12, 2015) - The LIU Post wrestling team honored its first senior class in over 25 years with a compelling 26-16 victory over East Stroudsburg on Thursday at the Pratt Recreation Center.

The Pioneers (4-14) fell behind after the first bout of the meet, but rallied back to win the next five weight classes on their way to the victory. Freshman Joe Calderone (Huntington Station, N.Y.) continued a dominant opening season in Brookville by earning a pinfall victory in 59 seconds over redshirt sophomore Marius Kola (Philadelphia, Pa.) at the 133-lb. weight class.

At 141, junior Jesse Meaney (Toms River, N.J.) scored an impressive 9-3 decision, which was followed by consecutive major decisions from freshman Matt Langan (Wantagh, N.Y.) and red-shirt freshman Jackson Mordente (Farmingville, N.Y.) at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively. Mordente's major put the green and gold ahead by a 17-3 scoreline, which increased to 20-3 after freshman Ed Ramirez, Jr. (Massapequa, N.Y.) notched a 7-0 win over red-shirt sophomore Matt Wax (Frederick, Md.) at 165.

The Pioneers also earned a six-point forfeit as senior Chris DiIorio (Holtsville, N.Y.) had his hand raised when the Warriors (5-9) did not put up a wrestler at 197 pounds. DiIorio was honored pre-match in a "Senior Night" ceremony, along with fellow classmates Francisco Viera-Pereira (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Johnny Brush (East Meadow, N.Y.).

Head Coach Joe Patrovich and the LIU Post wrestling team will hit the mat on Monday (Feb. 16) for a President's Day dual meet with Shippensburg at 7 p.m. in Shippensburg, Pa.
