Ten Pioneers Receive All-ECC Indoor Track Honors
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 26, 2015) - The LIU Post men's and women's indoor track and field teams had 10 student-athletes claim All-East Coast Conference recognition Thursday for their finishes at the 2015 ECC Championships.
Graduate
Dale McDonald (Roosevelt, N.Y.) and red-shirt sophomore
Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) won the 400-meter dash (51.22) and 3,000-meter run (8:52.79), respectively, to snag All-ECC first-team honors.
LIU Post's distance medley relay squad of Scott, McDonald, red-shirt junior
Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) and
Thomas Flynn (Smithtown, N.Y.) secured an All-ECC first-team selection, as well. They clocked a meet record of 10:44.51.
Freshman
Bjorn Bjornsson (Levittown, N.Y.) wrapped up the honors for the men's side. He earned a pair of All-ECC second-team nods by placing fourth in the long jump (7.22 meters) and the 60-meter dash (7.22).
For the women, graduate
Robin Lynn (Glen Gardner, N.J.) was named to the All-ECC first-team, following a second-place showing in the 1,000-meter run (3:10.08).
Furthermore, she was part of a distance medley relay group, along with junior
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) and freshmen
Lauren Hoffman (Melville, N.Y.) and
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.). Their winning time of 12:40.10 landed All-ECC first-team praise.
Williams and Stirling individually came in third in the mile (5:22.21) and 3,000-meter run (10:50.01) to collect All-ECC second-team accolades. Freshman
Danae Glover (North Babylon, N.Y.) also landed a spot on the second-team, after a third-place leap of 10.69 meters in the triple jump.
