Box Score 2 SAINT LEO, Fla. (Mar. 14, 2015) - The No. 11 LIU Post softball team dropped its last two contests at the Saint Leo March Invitational at University Softball Stadium. The Pioneers lost to East Region rival Caldwell, 10-5, and were defeated by Saint Leo, 14-1.
In Game One against Caldwell College, the Pioneer offense wasted no time, as the top of the first saw a three-run green and gold lead. Sophomore outfielder
Mackenzie Buckley (St. James, N.Y.) reached on a fielders choice to help senior outfielder
Catherine Havens (Eastport, N.Y.) cross the plate for LIU Post's first tally of the contest. Senior catcher
Aly Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) doubled to center to score Buckley, while sophomore first baseman
Kayla McCoy (Smithtown, N.Y.) singled through the left side to increase the Pioneer lead to three. The green and gold tacked on two more scores as junior catcher
Paige Swantek (Smithtown, N.Y.) doubled to left to help Dzierzynski cross the plate, and sophomore infielder
Melissa Peet (Monroe, Conn.) added another RBI to the offensive performance to score Swantek, who went three-for-four with a walk, for a 5-0 Pioneer lead.
The Caldwell offense answered back in the bottom of the fourth, as a two-RBI single and a two-RBI double quickly put the Cougars within one. Two more singles ended the latter half of the inning with Caldwell up 7-5. A Marisa Monasseri homer and a RBI single for the Cougars secured the 10-5 victory.

In Game Two, a single up the middle in the bottom of the first gave Saint Leo an early lead over LIU Post. The Lions tacked on another score in the bottom of the second to put them up by two. The Pioneers came within one in the top of the third, as Havens doubled to help freshman catcher
Emily DeVito (Preston, Conn.), who pinch ran for McCoy after a single, cross the plate. A 12-run bottom of the fourth secured the 14-1 victory for the Lions.
Senior pitchers
Nicole Ehlinger (Hauppague, N.Y.) and
Megan Salcido (Brawley, Calif.) combined to face 27 batters in the contest.
