BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 17, 2015) - Junior attackman Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) had a season-high six goals Tuesday to lead the No. 5/5 LIU Post men's lacrosse team to a 13-5 St. Patrick's Day rout of UDC at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

His six goals were the most since scoring a career-best seven against Roberts Wesleyan on Mar. 15, 2014. Fellow junior attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) collected two goals and four assists for a six-point day. Senior midfielder Connor Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) dished off two assists.

Tied 1-1 late in the opening quarter, the Pioneers (6-1, 3-0 ECC) reeled off three consecutive tallies in the final 6:44 to grab a three-goal advantage (4-1). Beccaris provided two assists in that stretch. Senior attackman Chris Caiazza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), junior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) and junior midfielder Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) all notched even-strength goals.

In the second period, the Firebirds' (1-2, 0-1 ECC) Chase Fraser (Aldergrove, British Columbia) picked up his second goal of the game to close the gap to 4-2, but LIU Post put together another late three-goal burst to carry a 7-2 cushion into the locker room. Slane recorded two goals in the run, one of which was on the man-up, and assisted on James Roselle's (Huntington Station, N.Y.) first tally as a Pioneer.

Slane continued his offensive dominance in the third quarter. He scored the first two goals of the period in a span of 1:09 to widen the green and gold's lead to 9-2 at the 13:08 mark. That proved to be all the Pioneers needed, as UDC only came as close as 11-5 the rest of the way.

Defensively, senior Robbie Chiocco (Massapequa, N.Y.) scooped up three ground balls and caused two turnovers for LIU Post in the win. Classmate Justin Woodley (Bloomington, Minn.) amassed three ground balls and one caused turnover.

Senior defenseman Dan Jeannotte (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) won 12-of-18 faceoffs and collected four ground balls in the process. Between the pipes, junior goalie Adam Winne (Ridgefield, Conn.) made 11 saves.

Overall, the green and gold outshot the Firebirds by an astounding 45-23 count, and led in the ground ball department (29-22) as well. They were also a near-perfect 15-of-18 (83.3 percent) on clears.

Head Coach John Jez and the Pioneers wrap up their three-game homestand on Saturday (Mar. 21), when they take on East Coast Conference foe Chestnut Hill at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. The opening faceoff is set for 11 a.m.
