PERRY, N.Y. (Mar. 2, 2015) - The LIU Post men's lacrosse team has climbed one spot to No. 2 in the latest USILA Division II Top-15 Poll, announced Monday afternoon.

The Pioneers are off to their first 4-0 start since 2011. That same season, LIU Post went 16-2 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

This past weekend, LIU Post swept its opposition at the North Florida College Lacrosse Faceoff. It bested Saint Leo, 15-6, on Friday (Feb. 27), and Lynn, 13-10, on Sunday (Mar. 1).

Junior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) scored nine goals in the two contests to lead the Pioneers. Senior midfielder Connor Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) recorded six goals, while junior attackmen Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) tallied five and four goals, respectively.

Limestone, which boasts an undefeated 6-0 record, topped the ledger for the second-straight week. The Saints collected 163 points and nine first-place votes. LIU Post totaled 153 points and two first-place votes. Adelphi (No. 3) and NYIT (No. 4) individually moved up one slot. Lake Erie, following an 8-7 upset of then-No. 2 Le Moyne, jumped three notches to round out the Top-5.

In the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, the Pioneers remained second, sandwiched by Limestone (No. 1) and Adelphi (No. 3). Lake Erie, after its shocking one-goal victory against Le Moyne, rose to fourth.

LIU Post is back in action Saturday (Mar. 7), when it faces No. 3 Adelphi in a re-match of the 2014 NCAA Division II National Semifinal at Motamed Field in Garden City. The opening faceoff is set for noon.
