ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 28, 2015) - On Saturday, the No. 10/11 LIU Post women's lacrosse team kept its opposition off the scoreboard for an entire half, in an 18-2 rout of East Coast Conference foe Molloy at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex.

It marks the second time in three games that the Pioneers (7-2, 3-0 ECC) have accomplished such a feat. They held Roberts Wesleyan without a goal in the first half last Saturday (Mar. 21) in a 6-4 win.

Red-shirt sophomore attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) collected all of her career-high nine points in the first 30 minutes. She notched three goals and six assists, as the green and gold held an 11-0 lead at halftime. Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.)Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) and Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) all provided two goals apiece in the opening session.

In the second period, Molloy (4-5, 0-3 ECC) scored two straight to close the gap to a nine-goal game (11-2), but LIU Post put up seven unanswered tallies to shut the door.

The Pioneers had seven different players find the back of the cage in the run. Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Kaitlin Gaghan (North Massapequa, N.Y.) each had a goal and an assist. Sophomore defender Leslie Allen (Adamstown, Md.) capped the afternoon's scoring with her first collegiate goal.

LIU Post dominated the shot totals in the game by a 32-9 count. It also won 13 draw controls to Molloy's nine.

In addition to Delaney's nine-point effort, Bird totaled four points (3 G, 1 A), as well as five draws. Douglas and Roche both netted three goals. Pierro chipped in two goals and an assist for a three-point day.

Between the pipes, freshman goalie Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made three saves in improving to 5-2 on the year. Her counterpart, Laura Vetter (Great River, N.Y.), stopped 10 shots for the Lions.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers are right back at it on Sunday (Mar. 29), when they host Findlay at noon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville.
