Williams, Davis Earn All-ECC First-Team Honors

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 4, 2015) - On Wednesday, the East Coast Conference revealed its 2014-15 All-ECC Women's Basketball Team, and two Pioneers made the cut.

Senior guard Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) and junior center Nyasia Davis (Rahway, N.J.) were named to the All-ECC first-team, after leading LIU Post to a 17-11 overall record, including a 13-7 clip in league play.

Williams, a two-time ECC Player of the Week selection, finished the regular season averaging 21.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. Her 597 total points moved her up the LIU Post all-time scoring list to No. 3, passing former teammate Felicia Joyner in the process. On two different occasions this year, Williams topped the 30-point mark as the senior netted a career-best 32 against Bridgeport (Dec. 3), before pouring in 31 at Roberts Wesleyan (Jan. 24). This season, Williams set the LIU Post record for most made three-point shots with 59. Her 21.3 points per game ranks as the sixth-best scoring average in Division II.

Davis concluded the regular season averaging a double-double. The junior collected 13.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, earning her multiple ECC Weekly Honor Roll appearances. Like Williams, Davis set a career-high with 32 points at Mercy (Jan. 7) and also set a career-best with 20 rebounds versus Daemen (Feb. 27). Her 20 boards were just six shy of the single-game record at LIU Post of 26, last accomplished by Cherelle Payne against Molloy during the 2002-03 campaign. In the regular-season finale versus Roberts Wesleyan, Davis went for 15 points and 15 rebounds on national television. Davis' 11.3 rebounds per game are good for 16th in Division II.

Williams, Davis and the rest of the LIU Post women's basketball team are set to do battle with NYIT tonight in the play-in game of the 2014-15 ECC Championship. The opening tip is slated for 4 p.m. from Recreation Hall in Old Westbury.
