NEW YORK, N.Y. (Apr. 16, 2015) - On Thursday, LIU Post senior guard
Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) was chosen to the All-Met Division II first-team, as announced by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. Meanwhile, junior center
Nyasia Davis (Rahway, N.J.) received second-team accolades, following a breakout season.
Williams added more honors to her trophy case, as she was already dubbed an All-East Coast Conference first-team, an ECAC All-Star first-team and a Daktronics/Division II CCA All-Region second-team selection in 2014-15.
Her 21.7 points per game clip this season led the team and the conference, and was the third-highest scoring average in league history. Williams collected double-digit point totals in all but one game, eclipsing the 30-point barrier three times over the course of the year. In the East Coast Conference Championship quarterfinal against NYIT on Mar. 4, she tied her career-high with 32 points, making 10-of-19 field goals and converting on 91.6 percent (11-of-12) of her attempts from the free-throw line.
Davis turned in a remarkable season that earned her All-ECC first-team praise. She averaged a double-double, totaling 13.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per contest. Her statistics included a team-high 17 double-doubles, a mark which was third-best in the conference and fourth among all East Region players. She concluded her junior campaign with 11 double-doubles over the team's final 15 games. Additionally, Davis ranked in the Top-5 in the nation in offensive rebounding, averaging 5.0 boards per game.
