Outdoor Track Competes in ECC Championships
Complete ResultsROCHESTER, N.Y. (Apr. 18, 2015) - The LIU Post men's and women's outdoor track and field squads competed in the East Coast Conference Championships at Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday. The men placed fifth at the event, while the women slotted seventh.
The men's 100-meter dash saw
Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) finish consecutively (10th and 11th), at 11.44 and 11.45, respectively. Graduate student
Dale McDonald (Roosevelt, N.Y.) placed high in the 200-meter dash, finishing third at 22.15, while
Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.) completed the feat at 24.65. McDonald went on to take the top finish in the 400-meter dash, at 50.07. The 1500-meter run saw
Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) place fifth, at 4:22.16, while fellow Pioneer
Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) crossed the finish line sixth, at 4:23.14.
Tyler McGarvey (Babylon, N.Y.) completed the feat eighth at 4:49.98, while
Ryan Gioe (Huntington Station, N.Y.) finished directly behind at 4:33.58, and
Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) crossed the finish line at 4:40.63.
The men's 5000-meter run saw another green and gold high finish, as freshman
Thomas Flynn (Smithtown, N.Y.) placed second at 16:03.45, while LIU Post secured the gold in the 110-meter hurdles. The Pioneer 4x100-meter relay squad, Adams,
Bjorn Bjornsson (Levittown, N.Y.), Joseph and McDonald, raced to a 43.76, third place finish, and the 4x800-meter relay team, Arnone, Flynn, Scott and McGarvey, placed second at 8:37.59. Bjornsson earned a fourth-place slot in both the long jump and the triple jump, at 6.41 mE and 12.47m, respectively.
For the women, the 100-meter dash saw
Nicolette DeSouza (Stroudsburg, Pa.) complete the feat at 13.82, while
Robin Lynn (Glen Gardner, N.J.) placed fifth in the 800-meter dash at 2:26.55.
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) and
Jessica Wiking (Farmingdale, N.Y.) both competed in the 1500-meter run, as Williams placed sixth at 5:07.68, and Wiking raced to a 5:43.28 completion. The 5000-meter run saw
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) finish third at 18:42.03, while
Brooke Rozea (Syosset, N.Y.) finished seventh at 20:05.11.
Alyssa McDonald (New Rochelle, N.Y.) raced to a 1:15.40, fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, while
Danae Glover (North Babylon, N.Y.) leaped to a 10.91m in the triple jump.
The LIU Post men's and women's outdoor track and field teams return to competition Wednesday, Apr. 22, when they are set to travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to race at the Penn Relays.
